Literacy in WaHI

Welcome to the Word Up Community Bookstore!

The Word up community bookstore is a 100% volunteer driven 501(c)3 community bookstore that operated out of a storefront on 176th and Broadway from June 2011 until their lease ran out in August of 2012. In January 2013, the group finally raised enough money to again open its doors in Washington Heights although its new location has not been determined yet. To find out more about Wordup bookstore and keep updated on their endeavors, visit their blog here. Here you will find a list of books that are culturally relevant to the WaHI community.
